Sharpness and depth of field really don't matter as much, you just need to get as much light as you can. Choose a shutter speed between 1/20 and 1/40 (1/60 is fine too if you're quite far away from the aircraft). Then, set your ISO so that you are underexposed one or two stops (generally will be around 3200-6400).

The most straightforward way to check is by looking at your chosen airline's reservation page. Most airlines list the aircraft type on their ticketing pages, so you'll know before you even book. But, if you can't find it on the airline's website, you can look to third-party sites like Expert Flyer or SeatGuru.
